Brake-sensing tail light · In testing
Tail01 Max
A tail light that senses braking.
It brightens as you slow down, with no wiring and no lever switch.
Braking states
Brightens when you slow down
A 6-axis motion sensor inside the light detects deceleration and switches on the brake light.
The harder you brake, the stronger the signal
Normal braking gives a brighter, steady light. Hard braking flashes at full brightness.
Design targets
- Brake sensing
- A 6-axis motion sensor detects deceleration and triggers the brake light
- Brake light
- 125 lm steady for normal braking, 200 lm flash for hard braking
Power and charging
Ten minutes of charging, about 30 hours of daytime riding
A 2600 mAh battery. The design target: ten minutes on a USB-C PD fast charger gives about 30 hours of daytime riding or 22 at night, and the battery reaches 80% in about 28 minutes.
Design targets
- Battery
- 2600 mAh
- Charging
- USB-C PD fast charging, about 28 minutes to 80%
Capabilities in testing
- No separate cadence sensor
- The light measures cadence itself and shows up on your bike computer as a cadence sensor. In testing
- Switches on and off with your bike computer
- Paired with a bike computer, the light switches on when you start recording and off when you finish. Check its battery and change modes from the handlebar. In testing
- Ride together, lights in step
- Tail01 Max lights riding together breathe in sync. A light with a teammate behind it dims so it does not dazzle, and the last one in line stays at full brightness. In testing
- Tap your phone to pair
- Tap-to-pair over NFC, connected by Bluetooth. Google Fast Pair is planned for Android phones, with certification pending. In testing, certification pending
- Planned: find the light from your phone
- Planned to join the Google Find Hub network (in testing, certification pending) and Apple Find My (planned). Each light joins one of the two, chosen at first setup.Google in testing, Apple planned
- Stop for a coffee, pick the ride back up
- After you park, the light switches off and Rideo pauses location to save battery. Set off again from the same spot within 4 hours and the ride carries on along the same track. In testing
